About Wat Si Sawai (Sukhothai)
Wat Si Sawai lies about 350 metres south of Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai Historical Park and stands out for its three slender prangs in Lopburi (Khmer-influenced) style. Finds such as a lintel showing the reclining god Vishnu and Shiva lingams show that it was first a Hindu shrine, later converted into a Buddhist temple with a wihan added in front. The stucco decoration on the towers is partly preserved. The site is compact and atmospheric, with a moat around it, and is a pleasant short ride from the central temples.
