Privacy policy

No forms, no accounts, and Google Analytics only if you want it. Here is exactly what this website does and does not do.

In short

This website has no forms, accounts or newsletter, and does not sell or share data. By default we count visits without cookies (Umami). Only if you say Yes yourself do we also use Google Analytics, which does set cookies. See Cookies and Google Analytics.

Cookies and Google Analytics

At the bottom of the page a notice asks whether we may measure anonymously which pages you read. Only if you click Yes, fine do we load Google Analytics 4 (by Google). Only then does Google set analytics cookies, such as _ga.

If you click No, rather not, nothing from Google Analytics is loaded and no cookies are set. Saying no is as easy as saying yes, and the site works the same either way.

We use Google Analytics for statistics only. Advertising, ad personalisation and Google Signals are switched off. We use Google Consent Mode: without your consent everything is set to ‘denied’.

We store your choice for about 6 months in your own browser (localStorage, not a cookie). After that we ask again.

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time: click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, or here: If you then choose No, we remove the Google Analytics cookies of this website.

Who we are

greetingsfromthailand.com is a personal travel website about Thailand. Send privacy questions to greetingsfromthailand@gmail.com.

Statistics

We count visits with Umami Cloud (umami.is). Umami works without cookies and does not store IP addresses or other data that identifies you personally. We only see totals, such as which pages are viewed, the referring website, the type of device and browser, and the country.

External content

Some pages about cities and festivals show video preview images. These are loaded from YouTube (i.ytimg.com, owned by Google). YouTube sees your IP address, as with any image from another website. The video itself only opens on YouTube when you click it; YouTube/Google’s privacy policy then applies.

When you press Search in the search bar, you go to Google (google.com) with your search terms. The suggestions while you type come from this website itself.

Fonts, maps and scripts are hosted on our own server. Links to other websites open that website; its own privacy policy applies there.

Hosting

The website is hosted by Hostinger. As with any web server, technical log files (IP address, time, requested page, browser) may be kept for a limited time for security and to keep the server running.

Site admin

Only the site administrator logs in to the admin area. A functional session cookie is used for that; regular visitors do not get it.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, and ask for correction or deletion. Email greetingsfromthailand@gmail.com. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your own country.
