When can you go to Thailand?
For most destinations in this overview, November to February is the driest and most pleasant season. The rainy season runs roughly from May to October, with most rain in the second half of that period.
There are exceptions. On Koh Samui most rain falls in October and November (November is the wettest month there); at Khanom, October and November are the wettest. On the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak) the sea is rougher from May to October; see the Sea column in the tables.
In the north (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai) December and January are the coolest months, with night-time lows of 13–15°C, and March and April are the hottest. During that period smoke haze can hang over the region because of crop burning.
