Built in Shan (Tai Yai) style with Burmese influences, it is known for two whitewashed stupas decorated with gold, the larger built in 1860 by a Shan merchant. From the terrace you look out over the town, its airport runway and the surrounding misty mountains. Mornings often begin in fog, and sunsets can be beautiful. You can drive up or climb a long staircase from the town, then combine it with the lake temples below.
