About Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang (Mae Hong Son)
Wat Chong Kham and its twin Wat Chong Klang stand side by side on the shore of Nong Chong Kham lake in the centre of Mae Hong Son. Their Shan-style halls with tiered, lace-like metal roofs and white-and-gold stupas reflect beautifully in the water, especially in the early morning and at night when they are lit. Inside, you find Burmese-style Buddha images and, at Wat Chong Klang, painted glass panels and carved wooden figures. The two temples officially merged in 1974. The lakeside park in front hosts local festivals and an evening market in the high season.
