About Wat Phra That Doi Tung
Wat Phra That Doi Tung sits high on Doi Tung mountain in Mae Sai district, about 46 kilometres from Chiang Rai town and close to the Myanmar border. Twin golden chedis on the summit are said to hold relics of the Buddha and are a major pilgrimage site for northern Thais. The drive up winds through forest and hill-tribe villages, and from the top you look out over misty mountains.
