About Prasat Mueang Sing
Mueang Sing Historical Park in Sai Yok district, Kanchanaburi, protects the westernmost Khmer temple complex in Thailand, set beside the Khwae Noi River. At its centre stands Prasat Mueang Sing, a laterite sanctuary from the 13th–14th centuries whose layout and sculpture show Bayon-period Mahayana Buddhism, including copies of statues of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Earthen walls and moats enclose the ancient town. The park was declared in 1987, is spacious and rarely crowded, and pairs nicely with a ride on the Death Railway or a visit to Sai Yok waterfall.
