About Phra Nakhon Khiri
Phra Nakhon Khiri, known locally as Khao Wang, is a historical park on a 95-metre hill above Phetchaburi. King Mongkut built it as a summer palace, and its three peaks hold three groups of buildings: the palace with its observatory on the western peak, the large white chedi Phra That Chom Phet in the middle, and on the eastern peak Wat Phra Kaeo, a royal temple modelled on the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok. A cable car runs up the hill, or you can walk the steep paths. Beware of the monkeys.
