About Mae Haad and Koh Ma
- Access type
- 🏖️ Snorkel from the beach
You swim to the reef without an extra boat. That can still take some distance, enough water depth and swimming skills. - Location
- North-west coast of Koh Phangan, Surat Thani.
- Activity
- Snorkeling from the beach.
- How you get into the water
- Yes, from Mae Haad to the reachable reef sections around Koh Ma; no boat needed.
- Under water
- Coral and reef fish. A serious candidate for snorkeling from the beach on Phangan.
- Good to know
- Low tide is handy for the sandbar walk, but not automatically good for snorkeling over the reef. Make sure there is enough water above the coral. Koh Ma near Phangan is a different island from the one with the same name elsewhere.
- Access now
- No separate, current guarantee of access was found; check local access and conditions on the spot.
- ⭐ Top pick from the beach
- One of the strongest spots for snorkeling from the beach in our research (a selection based on access and marine life, not a ranking of the reef).
