About Wat Ratchanatdaram
Wat Ratchanatdaram sits on Ratchadamnoen Avenue and is known for Loha Prasat, the 'iron palace', a unique multi-tiered building crowned by 37 metal spires. King Rama III ordered the temple in 1846 for his granddaughter. Inside Loha Prasat you climb through a maze of corridors and a central spiral staircase to a rooftop with views of the Golden Mount and the old city. The design is said to be the only surviving building of its kind. The temple is close to Wat Saket, so both are easy to combine on foot.
