About Phra Prang Sam Yot (Lopburi)
Phra Prang Sam Yot in Lopburi is a Khmer-style sanctuary of three laterite towers joined by corridors, built in the Bayon style around the time of King Jayavarman VII. It was originally a Mahayana Buddhist shrine and later became a Theravada temple. Today it is famous for the troop of long-tailed macaques that live on and around the towers. The monkeys are fun to watch but grab bags, glasses and food, so keep belongings close. The ruins sit right beside the railway line, making it easy to reach by train from Bangkok or Ayutthaya.
